The target market for this snack will be the younger generation
that is more likely to try other worldly flavors. However, because of the
connection to the Phileas Fogg adventures, lets hope that the connection to the
older movie will bring in the older generation to try the snack. Trying the
phenomenon that is the Sri Lankan Samosas Puffs. We know the new hip and trendy
bars will serve this as an accessible snack to eat when you get thirsty from
all the alcohol or whatever you decide to ingest. The snack will be small
enough to eat it in bite sized mindless eating. The flavor is exotic enough to
attract the people looking for something different, new, and fresh in the snack
world. "The company’s marketing strategy outlines
which customers the company will serve and how it will create value for these
customers." Because of the type of people that we're tailoring to the need
to be fresh and to innovate is strong. Change for this company is good as long
as we do it very conservatively but frequent. The current generation of adults
have attention spans that calls for constant change, but if a company changes
too much then uproar shall ensue. Slightly changing logos or style of
commercial will suffice for the constant change while keeping the core product
the same for people to not only identify with the same snack and the same taste
but the constantly changing entertainment of the advertising will.

Situation or SWOT Analysis
This company has a
specific goal in the snack food industry. The strengths, weaknesses,
opportunities and threats are a certainty for every company but it is important
to identify them to maximize success. "Strengths include internal
capabilities, resources, positive situational factors that may help the company
to serve its customers and achieve its objectives." The strength of the
company is the fact that there really isn't any other snacks like this that are
bit size and have the crunchy outside with a soft inside that has exotic flavor
like that of a remote island off the coast of India. "Weaknesses
include internal limitations and negative situational factors that may
interfere with the company’s performance." The weaknesses for the snacks
would be probably making the flavor too exotic overt the tastebuds of typical
Americans that are just looking for the regular, bbq, sour cream and onion.
Overcoming that would be to start exotic and work our way down to more simple
flavorings. "Opportunities are favorable factors or trends in the
external environment that the company may be able to exploit to its
advantage." Our opportunities here are to exploit a new type of snack and
in this world of trends, a trendy new flavor to explore. This provides the consumer
with a different but delicious alternative to snacking at anytime of
day. "Threats are unfavorable external factors or trends that may
present challenges to performance." The threats were actually also
mentioned early. Those are the typical Americans who only are looking for
simple Americanized flavorings for snacks, which inevitably if we have to
accommodate to we will. "The goal is to match the company’s
strengths to attractive opportunities in the environment, while eliminating or
overcoming the weaknesses and minimizing the threats." With all of these
factors in place the Phileas Fogg Sri Lankan Somosas Puffs will be the hit of
any snack time hunger sensation.
Objectives
The marketing objective
here is to place emphasis on the international factor. The snack is spawned by
international flavor and therefore will have no problem selling in the region
that the food is flavored after but the other parts of the world including the
Americas will have a hard time adjusting to the different flavoring. "Profits can be improved by increasing sales or reducing costs.
Sales can be increased by improving the company’s share of domestic and
international markets. These goals then become the company’s current
marketing objectives." In the Americas
the market strategy is to get the consumers to associate the snack with
dangerous adventure. This marketing strategy is going to get consumers over the
hump for the different flavors. Driving consumers to buy the product because of
a want and borderline need to be adventurous and different from everybody that
goes to the store to buy chips. The underlining objective is to get people to
forget about just any old regular brand of snack and get them to purchase the
product because of the feeling the advertisement and promotion makes the
customer feel. Explosions, tiger attacks, war, sex, and adventure are going to
be what people think of rather than just the run of the mill potato chips
brand. Any other snack, cracker, or chip just will not offer a lifestyle
instead of a snack. The clever thing here is that everybody wants to be a hero
and an action star and living vicariously through a snack will be the driving force
behind a snack for exotic people.
